How to Really Make Money Online With Google Adsense

Google adsense is one of the best and easiest ways to monetize your website or blog. If you have any kind of a website or blog, there is no reason why you shouldn’t use the program to generate an income or extra cash from your website.

In case this is a new concept to you, Google adsense is a website monetization technique that allows you as a publisher (or webmaster for that matter) to earn revenue from your website by placing contextually targeted ads on your site(s).

In other words Google places ads relevant to your website content, culled from the keywords in your site content. So, if your website is about colon cleansing, then Google adsense ads that appear on your website will be somewhat related to colon cleansing.

This is an absolute plus to you as a publisher because it’s a surefire way to attract maximum click through for your ads and maximize your earning potential.

Google adsense is completely free to sign up for and effortless to maintain. You can apply for a google adsense account using this link and clicking on the signup button. Once you provide your website url and some other information, you’ll have to wait for your account to be approved. If you don’t have a website or blog yet, the best way to work around that is to create a free blogger blog here, publish two or three blog posts, and then sign up for your adsense account using the blogger blog url. It may take a while before your adsense account is approved, but patience payssmile icon

Once your account is approved, you’ll be able to get customized ads that match your preferences (in terms the size of the ad blocks, border and link colors etc.) For each adsense block, you’ll then be able to generate a snippet of code to place on your website or blog.

Once you have placed the codes on your website or blog, the ads will start showing up automatically and each time a visitor to your website clicks on an ad, you earn a fraction of the revenue generated by Google, usually a few cents.
Google uses a pay per click advertising model called Google adwords whereby advertisers pay Google to display their advertisements in the sponsored section of Google search results or in the content network. As a publisher showing Google adsense ads on your site, you are art of the content network.

As for the actual placement of the ads for best click through and profits, Google will recommend several hot spots for your adsense blocks; at the top of the page underneath the headlines, somewhere in the middle left of the page and at the end of the posts, but you should as well experiment with your placements to see what works best for you. Again, you don’t necessarily need to place all the 3 blocks of ads that you are allowed per page if you don’t feel like.

Tip: There is no fixed science with the placement of ads. Experiment with different placements and track your ads using the Google adsense channels available in Google adsense publishers’ area. I personally like to place a medium rectangle (300×250) adsense block underneath the headlines and a 468×60 ad block at the end of the posts.

What about the appearance of your adsense ads?

You should consider removing the ad borders to make tem blend in with your site content. It’s also advisable to change the ad title colors and link colors to make them match the color of navigational links on your website.

Some people recommend using bold colors like red to make the ads prominent. You can thus test using colors similar to your websites versus the bold ones to see which ones work best in terms of click through and earnings.

An increasingly popular trend that is hot right now is to build content rich websites monetized with Google adsense. These sites are called virtual real estates, a term popularized by John Reese, and they are usually chocking full of keyword rich articles on a certain topic.

The concept here is to build keyword rich sites so as to attract lots of free traffic from the search engines then monetizing the sites with Google adsense ads strategically placed so as to attract the best click through.

The beauty of this method is that once the site is optimized and is receiving traffic from the search engines, there is no extra work involved and they can continue making you plenty of money for a long, long time, even when you have already moved on to a new project.

As you gain more and more experience, you could be churning out such sites faster than lightning smile icon. What if you had 50, 100 or 200 such sites floating on the web, each making you an average of $100/month or $200/month (for a one time effort)? Would an extra$5 000, $10 000 or $20 000 add to your bottom line? I don’t know about you but, I can bet it would for most people.

To give you an insight, here’s an example of a virtual real estate monetized entirely with google adsense

Summing up:
Google adsense is one of the best passive sources of income from your website. It’s a true set-and-forget system that requires very little maintenance on your part. One last word though, never click on the ads yourself or ask people to click as this is against the TOS (Terms Of Service).
