The Best Step I ever Took for my Online Business

Posted by Kevin Njoroge on February 23, 2010 under make money online | Be the First to Comment

The other day,a valued subscriber to my newsletter asked me: “Kevin, what is the greatest thing you ever did for your online business.

That got my head spinning because I have done quite a number of things that made great impact to me and my business.

Before I could hit the reply button and answer her question (by the way, I always answer my subscribers’ questions), I thought, why not share this with all the valued readers of my blog too?

So,here we go…

The best thing I did was to start blogging.

Let me explain why. To start with, my website was a static mini site with only the homepage, privacy policy and support page.

To be frank, I got disappointed every time I headed over to google to search for my domain name only to be asked whether I was looking for another one closely related to mine. Even though my website was still returned as the first result on Google, the impression passed on by google to someone looking for my website was not the best, right?

Kind of like this site is not all that authoritative (at least in Google’s eyes)

Yet I had done most o the things the seo experts advised me to do and continually pumped up my effort but every step i took seemed to yield little results

Then one day, one nice guy on digitalpointforums (forgive my poor memory guys I forgot his name, but I was not so good in school either) advised me to start a blog and keep working for back links. Since I was already generating back links to my websites, I decided to follow through with his other advice in addition and I started a blog several days later.

I am one person who strongly believes in taking action and starting the blog was a great game changer for me. My pagerank automatically shot within a few weeks and my website shot to life. I now get amazed everytime I find new keywords for which I am ranking and it’s not surprising to find me on th first page of google for some of them. It’s as if I became a friend of Google instantly.

All that happened within a span of a few weeks and I thank goodness I started blogging.
So if you have not yet started blogging, consider adding this weapon to your arsenal for website and online business promotion strategies.

How to make viral marketing work for your online business

Posted by Kevin Njoroge on February 19, 2010 under Traffic | Be the First to Comment

domino tilesWhile the term Viral easily depicts a virus, a word very much dreaded by all computer owners, Viral marketing doesn’t involve using a computer virus to market your online business. It’s called that because of the similar effect it has, a tendency to spread and infect people….in a good way!

Viral marketing is a marketing technique used to build public awareness of one’s product or company and is a perfect way to trigger a domino effect in your online business.

Oxford dictionary defines domino effect as “a situation in which one event causes a series of similar events to happen on after the other”

To paint the picture, let me give you one weird example and from an even bizarre source.

I came across this in the washrooms (I warned you)when I was in campus and some funny guy had written on the wall…

People who write on walls are jerks

and what do you think followed?

This guy forgot that just by expressing his feeling about people who write on the walls, he became one of them. The next person to visit the washrooms with a pen in hand responded…

Just like you

And the next? “Just like you” . It went on and on and I guess it still does and will continue for as long as the the next person to respond remains relevant and the painter doesn’t show his head there with a can.

That was a weird example of a viral effect but let’s now go back to viral marketing in the context of your online business.

Viral marketing basically refers to letting people spread the word about your online business to others when they come into contact with each other, who then let others know and so on and so on…

You can use many forms of media (videos, websites, pictures, games, emails, free stuff) to reach out to the public with the help of the user.

In a nutshell, you ride on the idea that if people like the content of a media they will pass it on to their friends and family, and they will do the same, resulting in it spreading like a virus.graph of growth

The motives can be as simple as just being nice by forwarding a nice email or there could be some monetary incentive like you’d find with an affiliate program.

Viral marketing has become a popular means of advertising and marketing because they are relatively low cost and the results can be extraordinarily high.

For business owners, using Viral marketing techniques is a good choice to get their product out there quickly. There needs to be effort at first to get the ball rolling, but once it starts, it gets bigger and hard to stop.

Here are a few ways being used to implement viral marketing by online business owners.

Giveaway and resale rights: This as a viral marketing technique is hot right now. Basically, you create short informative reports or videos on a topic relevant to your online business and pass giveaway or resale rights to the users of such products.

If the products are worth their salt, they get passed along really fast as free bonuses to other products or as freebies on squeeze pages.

Rebranding rights: This works like the former but instead of giving people resale and giveaway rights, you give them the opportunity to brand the products with their affiliate links before passing the product along to their friends and family.

If the people they referred then purchases the products recommended in the products, you credit them with the sale and they earn affiliate commissions. You can also develop rebrandible softwares.

Wordpress themes: If you are proficient with php, you can develop wordpress themes and give them away for free. You can then drop your url right at the bottom of the themes.

Personally, I discovered webdesignlessons.com blog from another site that used their free theme (I can’t exactly recall which site that was) and even though I later dropped their theme myself for another one that matched my preferences, I still visit the blog from time to time. So? The darn trick works. Period.

These are just some of the ways being used by internet business owners to create a buzz about their products or services. There are many more and I will share them with you on this blog in the next posts.

One last thought, have you ever come across an email or video that get sent from one person to the next, then the next and before you realize, it gets sent back to you for the second or even the third time?

Personally I have several of them in my inbox. I can send one of them to you if you like. (just kidding… but yeah, I can send one to you).

What if you had your URL or a graphic branded with your website URL in one of those viral videos and emails?

So, get creative and get viral marketing working for your online business.

An Easy Way To Make Money On Facebook

Posted by Kevin Njoroge on February 10, 2010 under make money online | Read the First Comment

facebook pictureI always wondered how to make money on facebook. I was completely convinced that there was some way to make money with facebook.

After a thorough search online, I bumped into a nice app developed by an independent author (not facebook). It’s called “facebook profile html” and is really easy to install on your facebook profile.

To test it, I installed it on my facebook profile and it has been there since July last year.

What’s cool, you can use this app to advertise any website since it allows you to add any html code to your facebook profile. You can see it live in action on my profile at

http://www.facebook.com/kevin.njoroge

It’s kind of like hacking into facebook but it is 100% ethical, so there is nothing to worry about.

The app sends traffic to any website of your choice and so there are basically two ways to monetize your facebook profile using this nifty app.

1. Promote your website: If you have a website, why not drop a text link or banner ad right there for your friends to see and hopefully visit your website or blog?

2. Affiliate marketing: If you don’t have a website, you may consider promoting an affiliate program of your choice on the facebook profile and make some money out of it.

In the next posts, I’ll show you how to add text link ads and banner ads to your facebook profile.

I’ll show you how to add your Insider Secrets Course Affiliate Links and Banners as an example. Before you ask “why insider secrets course?” let me explain.  This is a free to sign up and very lucrative affiliate program. You earn $65 per referral.

In the meanwhile, you can sign up for the affiliate program here.

Then watch out for my next posts where I will take you step by step through adding your banner ads and text link ads to your facebook profile.

How To Stay Motivated And Have Fun As You Build Your Internet Business

Posted by Kevin Njoroge on February 1, 2010 under make money online | 3 Comments to Read

happy faceLike we said in the last post how to make money online for beginners, a good online business is based on a system and you must have a solid plan of action before you fire up your effort, based on your time availability, budget and competence.

You the execute your tasks systematically to achieve your financial goals and freedom. That’s how you end up in Hawaii to hang and dine with the gurus. Heck that’s Sweet, huh!

The purpose of this post is to show you proven methods to stay motivated as you build your online business empire like the Gurus.

Have a Vision Board: – This is kind of like a practical application of the much acclaimed Law of attraction. What you essentially do is to figure out what success rolls out to in the context of you, you and you alone

-how will your life be like once you are truly successful?

-What dream vacation does your heart cherish?

-What is your dream car like? And house?

- What do you want to accomplish before you die? (Damn, death is certain like taxes)

Then develop a vision board shouting all these to you and keep it where you can see it every day. Let it shower you with all those nice things.

See every task you accomplish as a leap towards pulling all those things in your vision board into reality. The joy of drawing nearer to success that was once only a dream is motivating enough to keep marching on.

The first thing I did in 2010 was to develop my vision board. Heck, it’s out of this world with nice photos, goals and great quotes that sooth my spirit every time I glance at them

Purposive learning: – We’ve talked about this before but I’ll mention it yet again because it is so important.student

Don’t force your head to absorb and keep track of everything there is to learn in one go. Don’t spend the next five years trying to learn everything under the sun or else you will never get started or worse still get overwhelmed along the way-you have heard about information overload, right?

You don’t have to get everything perfect right off the bat. Get the initial effort rolling then go back to perfect and add-on to it later.

Break your tasks into small manageable chunks then accomplish them progressively while learning what you have got to learn along the way.

Remember there are thousands of freelancers you can hire at elance.com should you ever get stuck along the way.
So, keep going and have fun while you build your online business empire.

Success is imminent as long as you take action, keep focused, follow directions and, of course, have fun while you are at it.

How to Make Money Online for Beginners

Posted by Kevin Njoroge on January 8, 2010 under make money online | 6 Comments to Read

moneyThere are many how to make money online for beginners guides on the web today.

After wondering for long how to make money online for beginners and seriously searching online when I was starting out, I noted that most of these how to make money online guides for beginners only list an extensive list of ways to make money online or are simply a mini-copy pitching some turnkey cash kits or something like that.

While I’ve no problem with this approach, it inevitably comes with the risk of information overload and confusion to the beginners. Both of these can deter or delay your success online.

My idea of how to make money online for beginners is a bit different. I am not going to go so much into the details of ways to make money online because I’ve already done that in The Insider Secrets of Internet Wealth. Instead, my approach to how to make money online for beginners will focus on several secrets that will help you leverage on your efforts to get rich online quickly.

My first advice to make money online for beginners is to take massive action. The reason why most people don’t get their online business off the ground is not because they lack the technical know-how but because they are simply too lazy to get anything done or lack the motivation to take action.

There are many how to make money online for beginners guides that promise overnight wealth but none of them will ever work for you if you can’t take action. Period.

Of course there is a learning curve involved but you don’t have to get it right off the bat. Get things rolling then go back to perfect later. Don’t spend the next five years trying to master everything.

My next how to make money online for beginners advice is to have a plan. Have a plan of action before you fire your efforts to build an online business. This will of course depend on your budget and time. Decide on what to sell, traffic generation strategies to use, how to monetize your traffic, how much to spend on paid advertising e.t.c.

However you must be flexible enough to adapt to arising needs and new circumstances. Again, don’t start a day without a plan of action and do something everyday to help you build your online business.

The other how to make money online for beginners advice is to practice continuous education and learning. The web is dynamic and things change pretty fast on the internet. What worked yesterday might not work today. You must therefore keep up with the current trends to remain competitive in your niche.

My next how to make money online for beginners advice is to focus on one project to completion. The problem with most of us is that we are too easilyt distracted online. Don’t scatter your efforts trying to do all sort of projects at the same time.

The next how to make money online for beginners advice is to provide real value to your customers and subscribers. Recommend a product only if you strongly feel and believe it’s going to add value to the lives of your subscribers by helping them achieve their objectives. Don’t recommend that killer product that everyone and their dogs are talking about if it doesn’t add value to your subscribers’ lives.

I hope my version of how to make money online for beginners has helped you in your quest for internet riches. I now challenge you to take massive action and sytematically build an online business. And then of course make lots of money online.
